Principal IT Developer- DevOps

The Business and Customer Platform (BCP) team within Medtronic is responsible for the development, support and maintenance of digital platform to enable growth through innovation, create differentiated customer experiences, and drive efficiencies and operational excellence. The BCP teams leverages range of technology platforms including, Enterprise Custom Web applications, Content Management Solutions, eCommerce Platform (Hybris), Sales Enablement (SFDC), and Enterprise Mobile solutions

.

As part of the Global IT at Medtronic, this position forms a critical part of the Medtronic Enterprise application program team. The Medtronic Connect Digital Services platform is Medtronic’s next generation Digital Commerce platform that offers Online Ordering and related services such as Inventory Management and Product Trainings to our patients, customers, distributors and service providers. This platform can be personalized to meet the individual customers’ needs and is a critical capability that we seek to differentiate us from our competitors

Position : Principal IT Developer

Department : Business and Customer Platform

Reporting to : IT Manager - BCP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works onproblems of relatively complex scope, through general usage of standardprogramming concepts and principles and application of own judgment

  • Responsiblefor setting goals and objectives for individual team members aligned with theleadership expectations

  • Conductperiodic performance reviews, assess competency and provide guidance onindividual development plans

  • Isresponsible for development, support, maintenance and implementation of aproject through a team with defined objectives time lines

  • Handleswork allocations to the direct reports and supervises the day to day work ofindividual contributors

  • Ensurecustomer satisfaction targets are achieved, enhance customer service adheringto SLA

  • Mustdemonstrate good team management and leadership skills

  • Isresponsible for coaching, guiding and mentoring junior members in the team fortheir overall development

  • Isresponsible for working closely with his supervisor for implementation ofMedtronic quality initiatives in the project

  • Initiateand influence accelerators and efficiencies within the team to excel in servicedelivery and business outcomes

  • Engage andmanage escalations conflicts that might arise with technical teams,internal and external partners, other departments

  • Enablesteam to actively contribute to Knowledge base and provide creative ideas forknowledge management within the organization

  • Report dataand metrics that will provide actionable insights and decisions to improve theservice delivery

  • Weekly/Monthlymeeting cadence with stakeholders to review success, feedback and strategyalignment

  • Develop and govern branching strategy and codemanagement best practices for multiple and parallel development work streams

  • Contributeto knowledge sharing and management to drive operational excellence

  • Responsible for ensuring high availability ofmultiple environments across platform, include certificate management.

  • Design and build self-service and automationcapabilities to provide world-class service to software development teams

  • Drive automation and streamlining of operationsand processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring andoperations.

  • Support the dynamic and evolving needs of thedevelopment organization through the design, implementation, and administrationof development, testing and production environments

  • Operatewith speed and agility as you lead change and continuous improvement effortsacross our environments

  • Demonstratedhistory of progressively increasing complexity and variety of technical roles

  • Strong and effective influencer in drivingefforts and issue management to resolution

  • Track record of leading and implementing changeacross a platform

  • Strong Supervisory or team leadership experience

  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations inan always-up, always-available service

Experience, Skills

Experience:

  • 12+ years in build and release management,Software development and/or DevOps

  • 3+ Years experience in open source technology

  • 5+ years integration/ or delivery implementationand various associated tool

  • 3+ years experience on managing always up, always available Service

Skills:

Must have:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills (Both verbal andwritten)

  • Hands on experience on a wide variety of opensource technologies and cloud services (such as AWS, Azure)

  • Strong experience with one or more of the RDBMSincluding Open source

  • A working understanding of programming such asJava,.Net and scripting language such as Python, Perl

  • Experience with automation/configurationmanagement using either OctopusDeploy, TeamCity, Jenkins, Dockers ,Puppet, Chefor equivalent

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administrationand or Windows operating systems

  • Ability to code and script

  • Experience in GIT version control tool

  • Experience with systems and IT operations

  • Strong grasp of automation tools

Preferred:

  • NGINX WebServer configuration experience

  • Experience working with geographical Teams

  • Some supervisory or team leadership experience aplus

  • Willing to work in Shift

This role may require working in shifts, or on-call and shift shall be assigned as per business need.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor ofTechnology (B Tech) or Master of Computer Application (MCA) from a reputedinstitute/university
