Position Purpose

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement is aglobal organization with regional category teams in North America, Europe,Latin America, and Asia Pacific that, along with a strong core team andprocurement alignment, are implementing new sourcing strategies to supportCargill businesses and functions. Strategic Sourcing & Procurementemployees gain broad exposure to Cargill businesses as they drive tangiblevalue for the organization.

This position is responsible for routine administrative work stepswithin established procedures/limits, for one or more sourcing categoriesand/or locations, including executing procurement transaction processes and managinginventory/procurement records, providing location procurement support andplanning, managing supplier events and relationships, and implementing sourcingstrategies.

PrincipalAccountabilities

60% MANAGE / EXECUTE PROCUREMENT TRANSACTION PROCESSES

  • Receivesrequests for procurement of materials/goods, services and/or supplies forinternal use from various plant/location staff or a procurement/inventorymanagement system (e.g. Maximo or other ERP) for nondiscretionary, contractedspend, such as stock replenishment or planned spend.

  • Followsestablished procedures to process routine requests and prepare purchase ordersfor procurement of contracted materials/goods, services and/or supplies andsends notification to suppliers.

  • Updatesprocurement process documents, for processes requiring minimal interpretation,for review and approval by more senior team members.

  • Schedulesand confirms deliveries of materials/goods, services and/or supplies orderedand shipments received or services performed with plant/location staff;monitors and expedites deliveries as necessary in routine situations.

  • Facilitatesinvoice approval process including scanning/copying or otherwise forwarding tolocal approver, reconciliation of purchase order to invoice and contract terms(e.g. price, specifications, quantity, etc.), and notification to appropriateresource to issue payment.

20% MANAGE INVENTORY / PROCUREMENT RECORDS

  • Compiles,records and tracks electronic and/or hard-copy records and files pertinent topurchasing information (e.g. supplier information, order history, pricing data,account codes, lead times, reorder times etc.).

  • Entersand validates purchase order information into procurement/inventory managementsystem (e.g. Maximo or other ERP) based on information provided in the requestor other readily available data.

Runs standard/predefined reports fromprocurement management system.

PROVIDE PROCUREMENT SUPPORT& PLANNING –

  • Under general supervision by more senior procurement staff, may workwith plant/location staff using established procedures and tools to gatherreadily available information to provide basic forecasting of longer termsupply needs and executes purchasing plan accordingly.

  • Responds to requests for routine information, such as purchasingdata and status of procurement activities, from internal plant/location staff.

May inform internalplant/location staff on procurement process, procedures, and requirements (e.g.Select Suppliers, after the fact purchase orders etc.).

15% MANAGE SUPPLIER EVENTS & RELATIONSHIPS

  • Withinestablished limits and following established guidelines, may contact supplierand take actions to research basic variances with supplier contract terms andconditions (on-time delivery, quality of materials/goods, adherence tospecifications, etc.); coordinates return of rejected/damaged or otherwiseunsuitable orders.

  • Workswith applicable plant/location staff to research and resolve routine supplierissues; escalates more significant issues to higher level procurement staffand/or Strategic Sourcing organization as appropriate.

  • Maysupport or facilitate requests for procurement of non-contractedmaterials/goods, services and/or supplies which are considered non-leveraged,local spend (as defined by Strategic Sourcing policies) based on established,specific limits and existing procedures and tools including:

  • Gatheringgeneral internal spend data

  • Researching/contacting readily available suppliers

  • Collecting routine supplier bids and performing basic analysis ofresults (e.g. determining best cost alternative from multiple supplier quotes)

  • Entersbasic terms and conditions into template contracts

  • Mayverify, track and report compliance to negotiated agreements (such as SelectSupplier Agreement).

5% INFORM & IMPLEMENT SOURCING STRATEGIES

  • Undergeneral supervision, performs administrative activities in alignment withstrategic sourcing strategies and policies across the sourcing lifecycle.

Qualifications

RequiredQualifications

  • 3-year Bachelor Degree in Commerce, BusinessAdministration, Accounting or other business related field & 1to 2 years of total &related business experience (amended)

  • 10Key/Keyboarding (QWERTY keyboard) 70 to 80 Words Per Minute (WPM)

  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel,Outlook)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skillsin English

  • Abilityto calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,percentages and foreign currency conversions

PreferredQualifications

  • Must bedetail oriented, have strong organizational and time management skills to workin a fast paced environment.

  • Strongadministrative, internet search and filing skills.

  • Effectiveinter-personal skills in dealing with all levels and departments within thecompany

  • Basic understandingof Procurement requirements andstandards is desirable

  • Impeccablecustomer services skills

  • Experiencewith SAP, or other ERP Systems
